Protection and Connection

I’ve mentioned my love of Volkswagen adverts before on here but it’s fair to say that once again they have proved they know their market and get what it is to connect with an audience. On this occasion it’s about the role of a dad and their protective nature over their kids. Stand by with the tissues, it’s an emotional one.

OK Go do it again

How are they able to do this so regularly?

Once again, OK Go have melted my brain with an other amazing video. This time it is for Needing/Getting which sees the band driving a course arranged with over 1000 instruments over 2 miles. Watch it and enjoy. Also, if you like this, why not check out their previous work by starting here.

The Civil Wars – Billie Jean

Heard The Civil Wars on Jools Holland a few weeks back, they were amazing and were one of those bands that I instantly needed to hear more of. Incredible harmonies and soulful tunes, their album – Barton Hollow, is just fantastic. It was a post from the incredibly talented David McClelland that alerted me to this video of their stunning cover of Billie Jean – Enjoy. And take a look at David’s portfolio if you get a moment.

Downhill mountain bike race in Chile

So, mountain bikers, you think you are hardcore? Check out this unbelievable downhill race in Chile called the Valparaiso Cerro Abajo. Perilous and high speed including obstacles such as dogs and random people in the road, this is not for the faint hearted! No doubt about it, this is proper balls out racing.

Cats with thumbs

Loving the new campaign from Cravendale. Was a fan of their sinister cow adverts but now they have introduced cats with thumbs. Great work.

Daft Hands

This is still one of my favourite Youtube videos. I love it. The song is awesome but the addition of the video makes me so very happy. The bits towards the end where it is a blur of fingers and hands is just superb. I imagine it was a lot of takes but so so worth it. Too cool.

Enjoy.

Beautiful paper animation of Star Wars

I’m always on the lookout for videos that combine originality, beauty and a gorgeous soundtrack. This video by Eric Power does just that. The paper based animation depicts the original Star Wars Trilogy accompanied by Jeremy Messersmith’s delightful Tatooine. Enjoy.

“I’d like to think that there’s a star for me and you,
Spinning round, falling for one another…Twin suns of Tatooine”
